Just west of the Pacific Palisades center is Bienvenida Avenue . The street exists above and below Sunset Boulevard but is particularly striking south of Sunset. This is due to the large Western Sycamore trees lining both sides of the street.

Western, sometimes known as California , Sycamore is a native to Southern California . Predominately a riparian, creek- and stream-side inhabitant, this species grows over much of the Santa Monica Mountain range. It is often seen in the Pacific Palisades area particularly in the narrow ravines that exist in abundance.

The trees bordering Bienvenida Avenue were planted to mimic the existing native trees in the area. Planted in or around the 1930's, the trees create a living tunnel of green until they lose their leaves in the fall. Majestic and large, the street deservedly received Cultural Historic status in 1989.
