SPECIES CHARACTERISTICS:
Tan and slender evergreen, broadleaf tree. Fast growth rate;
60 - 100' in height, 20 - 40' spread. The tree shape is spreading with high arching branches.
FOLIAGE:
Simple leaf, alternate arrangement. Falcate leaf shape, entire margins. Lemon scented. 3 - 7" long, golden green in color.
FLOWER:
Perfect; creamy white in color.
FRUIT:
Urn shaped capsules, 3/8 - 1/2" in size. Fruit and flower borne in terminal clusters.
STEM/TRUNK:
Usually straight, single.
BARK:
Thin bark flaking off in large irregular patches.
EXPOSURE:
Sun; Hardiness: Sunset zones: 8 - 24.
SOIL:
Any, well drained.
WATER:
Very low water needs once established.
PESTS/DISEASES:
Eucalyptus long horn borer.
USES:
Accent, background, right of way, specimen.
COMMENTS:
Avoid pruning when Eucalyptus long born borers are active, (May - October), needs staking when young.
