GUARDRAILS, WARNING RAILS, HAND RAILS

The Special Projects Division is responsible for maintaining and constructing the City's guardrails, warning rails, and hand rails. To request a rail or the repair of one, please call our Service Request line at 3-1-1 or 1(800) 996-CITY or fill out an online request form. Due to an overwhelming need for guardrails on L.A.'s numerous, dangerous canyon roads, many requests are on a waiting list until crews become available to complete the work.

For a new guardrail, this Division will work together with the Department of Transportation to determine the necessity of guardrail installation and if applicable, design. Please be patient, and we will repair or construct your guardrail, warning rail, or hand rail as soon as possible. Requests are prioritized by the level of danger posed to the public.
